Autism School Seeks Back-to-School Supplies

The Potential Development Program's School of Autism will be holding a back-to-school supply drive throughout the month of August.

The items collected will be used in the kindergarten through 8th-grade classes during the upcoming school year. The School of Autism is a non-public charter school for children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and last year, 52 students were enrolled, according to a press release from the school. 

Some of the items needed for the upcoming school year include crayons, colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, pens, paper, tissues, construction paper, scissors, two-pocket folders, glue sticks and rulers. 

Donations can be dropped off at the School of Autism, 880 E. Indianola Ave. in Youngstown between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays. A Potential Development representative also will be at the Southern Park Mall Community Day on Aug. 10 for anyone wanting to donate there.

AUTISM SPEAKS™ MONTRÉAL WALK — SUNDAY MAY 27th

Walk Now for Autism Speaks is a family-friendly FUNdraising event for the entire community! Come out and enjoy a playland of activities for children of all ages. Slides and bouncy houses, sand/water/bubble stations, crafts and face painting, mascots, music and other entertainment, special guests and more!

Each registered walker who raises $150 or more will receive a Walk Now For Autism Speaks t-shirt!!

In the Resource Fair, learn about available services and programs in the area. Be sure not to miss the exciting opening and closing ceremonies as we celebrate our success together!
